The Ordinary

The ordinary niacinamide and zinc advanced retinoid

I swear every other post now is about my troublesome skin. It turns out that it doesn't matter how many plants you're eating, if you're eating the equivalent in sugar too...

So, on my never ending quest for perfect skin whilst devouring all the sugary snacks, I found The Ordinary.

The Ordinary are a cruelty free brand, with clearly labelled vegan options, who focus on clinical research to formulate their functional products. It sounds like something every brand should be doing - but none are quite as transparent or helpful as The Ordinary.

I'd heard about this brand before but for some reason, (a mixture of their lovely packaging and their scientific approach), I had it in my head that their products would be way more expensive, so I'd never thought of them as an option.

I couldn't have been more wrong. I picked up the 2% Advanced Retiniod for £8, when I'd only ever seen similar products for way over £20. I chose the Retiniod over the Retinol due to the fantastic amount of information The Ordinary's website provided. I felt like I was making an informed choice, with the pros and cons displayed directly to me.

I also bought the Niacinamide + Zinc serum for £5. This product is described as a high strength vitamin and mineral blemish formula. I decided to get this product - over all of the other amazing blemish control treatments, as I had done a little research (not knowing how amazing The Ordinarys website would be) and found that these two products worked really well together.

Each product has a clear check list of the top things I consider when buying an item, for example: whether it's cruelty free; if it contains silicone or soy or if there is any gluten or oil within it. There are also tips on which products work well together and which ones don't, alongside recommendations for other products which may more closely match the solution you are looking for.

Thanks to all the incredible information this lovely company provide, I love both of the products I purchased. Even after just one week my skin tone is evening out, with my redness disappearing and the marks from my spots are slowly fading! I almost can't wait to have another issue with my skin just so I can try out more products...

Have you every tried anything from The Ordinary? What are your favourite products?

  3. I wasn't aware of this brand so (as a fellow vegan) I am super, super grateful. If the prices you say are accurate then they are sooo cheap compared to other competitors! Thank you :) 💚
